Artist-in-Residence
Marcos Castro
Marcos Castro’s work focuses on nature and cultural contexts such as history, national myths, and the importance of rituals. His paintings, drawings, and sculptures look like fragments, yet episodes within the same world. At Bemis, Castro intends to search for objects in abandoned areas, a kind of archaeological exercise in a contemporary ruin. He also plans to create ceramic sculptures and bury some of them, opening the possibility that someone, at some point in time, will be able to discover it and give the piece a story, meaning, and a personal interpretation.
