Guy Goldstein
As both a visual artist and musician, Guy Goldstein is fascinated by the transitions between forms–attempts to convert actions from one medium to another, specifically between the visual and sonic. The relationships between sound and image in his work are rarely linear or teleological, and the process of transition between them is crucial, including chance or human mistake involved. His interrogation of sound frequently takes the shape of sculpture, compositions, sound and video installations, and as a member of the Israeli post-punk band Reines Girls. Currently, he is the director of the Visual Communication Department at Musrara School of Art, Jerusalem.
Goldstein’s Bemis residency is a continuation of a partnership with the Joslyn Art Museum in which an artist is invited to engage Omaha and the region through a long-term, two-part project. The first part comprises a two-month live/work residency at Bemis Center for the artist to conduct research and to make new work which will then be organized into a solo exhibition at Joslyn Art Museum October 2, 2021–January 2, 2022.
