Public Assembly with musician Mary Lawson
Bemis Center for Contemporary Arts
This three-part workshop series facilitated by Omaha-based musician and artist, Mary Lawson, holds space to experience and digest Bemis Center's current exhibition, Maya Dunietz: Root of Two. By assembling a group of Omaha creatives, Lawson will guide participants through a collaborative process of interpretation and performance to understand the exhibition's themes as it relates to ourselves and our community. Mary Lawson will also be holding Public Assemblies at Bemis Center on July 28th and August 25th. While participation in all three Public Assemblies is strongly recommended, anyone is welcome to join for any of the three workshops
This series of discussions offers Omaha an opportunity to share ideas and create meaning in community with each other. Facilitated by a community-member exploring the exhibitions’ themes in their own practice, these conversations seek to connect questions in the artwork with issues directly affecting Omaha’s social, political, and artistic landscape.
